Van Gogh Museum

The Van Gogh Museum has the largest collection of paintings by Vincent van Gogh in the world. There are around 200 paintings and 500 drawings are there for display. You can study his painting from his early days to later days. There are works of other artists also and you can compare the work of the artists in 19th century. This museum was started in 1973 and designed by Gerrit Rietveld.



Van Gogh Museum is attracts large number of visitors in every year. Guided tours are available in Van Gogh Museum on demand. You need to have group with more than 15 people. You can't do smoking in the museum and you may under go security checks at the entrance. Since these paintings may easily get damage, there are some security measures need to follow inside the museum.

Public Transportation to Van Gogh Museum:
If you are planning to visit Van Gogh Museum via public transportation, then you can take tram 2 (towards Nieuw Sloten) or 5 (towards Amstelveen Binnenhof) from the central station to Van Baerlestraat stop. Tram 3 or 12 also stops at the Van Baerlestraat stop. The bus 145, 170 or 172 and trams 16 and 24 stops at the Museumplein stop.

From Station Amsterdam Zuid/WTC you can take take tram 5 to the Van Baerlestraat stop.
Parking:
Disable parking lots are available near the main entrance of the museum and riders needs to have disable parking permits. Other can use the Q-Park garage underneath Museumplein.

Van Gogh Museum Tickets and On line Purchasing:
The ticket price is 12.5 Euro and you get discounts for children. Usually there are long lines for purchasing tickets in peak times. You can purchase Van Gogh Museum Tickets on line from their web site. This is a good option and you can save time on that. Free admission for museum card holders.
