China's Forbidden city ( the Imperial Palace) is the most visited tourist attraction in Beijing. Forbidden City served as the palace for the Emperor of China for many centuries. This place got its name because ordinal people were forbidden to to enter into it. Forbidden city is located by the middle of the Beijing, north to Tienanmen Square.



The history of Forbidden city starts somewhere around Yuan Dynasty in the period of 1271 - 1368. Some expansion to this happen during the emperor Yongle is time in early 1400s. There are 980 surviving buildings and more than 7000 bays of rooms are there. There is a tall red wall around this palace, encasing it from the rest of the world. Recently the Forbidden City is named as a UNESCO heritage site and to its considers as the largest surviving palace in the world.

Today this place is visited by thousands of tourist in every year.
