Beijing Buses

The city of Beijing is served by many buses. Some of them operate in the city and the suburb and some services connected with remote areas in China.

Usually Beijing busses operate from early morning to midnight. One problem in traveling by busses in Beijing is the traffic. If you are stuck middle in a traffic jam, it will take long time even to visit a small distance.

Beijing bus fares are cheap and bus route maps are displayed in rode side Kiosks. Most of the information are mentioned in Chinese, but there are some information mention in English. Anyway if you are new to city and can't read Chinese, you will face some difficulties to find your routes. Recently the authorities introduce some low emission busses which runs with natural gas.

You have two options for paying your bus fare. First way is pay cash and get a ticket from the bus ticket seller. Or you can use IC Card. These cards can be top-up when it run out of money and easier option than carrying cash. Same card can be used in metro system also.
