Beijing Subway System

Subways system is the faster way of moving with in the city of Beijing. This system covers the main city center and the some of the suburb districts. Some times this system get crowded, specially in peak hours. But people including tourists choose this way of transportation because its a clean, quick and safer to move from one place to another. But if you new to Beijing and traveling in the subway for the first time, avoid travel in rush hour.

Its better to get a subway map and plan your journey early. Maps are available in both Chinese and English. Beijing subways system operates from the early morning yup to midnight.



Beijing Subway Fares:

Beijing subways has cheap fares. Fares are collected through automatic machines. There are other fare card systems such as Yikatong ( Integrated Circuit Card - ICC). One flat rate applicable with unlimited transfers, but additional fares applicable for Airport Express Line.

Beijing Subway Lines:
Currently there are eight subway lines under operation. Some of these lines were added during the 2008 Olympic time. Few more other lines under construction and it will added to the network soon.

Line 1: West-East Express
Batong Line: Extending East into the Suburbs
Line 2: Running Circles Around the City
Line 5: North To South, Mozart Included
Line 8: The Olympic Express
Line 10: The Zhongguancun-CBD Express
Line 13: For Those Up North
Airport Express: City To Airport In A Quarter Hour
