Berlin Wall
Since after the Second World War, the border between West and East Germany was
open and people used to cross the boarder and visit the
other country for various purposes. There were some restrictions
in crossing the boarder from 1952, but people from east
was able to travel to West Berlin.
People in the West had a
good life, compared to East, because they got some
help from western world. But East was controlled by communists, and there living
standard became lower than West. There were lots of restrictions also.
So East Germans used to come to west for better life.
