Robben Island
Robben Island is located few kilometers away from Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.
This is the place where Nelson Mandela spent 20 years of his life in
prison.
Robben Island is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Robben island spread over
5 square mile area. In old days this island was used as the prison for anti apartheid. People. So this became the home for many freedom fighters in that time. This prison was converted to a museum in 1997.
There are daily to Robben Island is available from the waterfront. Usual tour period
are 4 hours. Tour includes visit to the prison and trip across the table bay. Robben Island
tour ticket price is R150 for adult and R75 for children. Kids up to four years are free of charge.
