Edinburgh is the capitol of Scotland and the seventh largest city in the
United Kingdom. The city resident population is around 450,000 but increase
more festival season because of the large number of visitors. Edinburgh was listed as
UNESCO World Heritage site in year 1995.
The city of Edinburgh is divided in to two parts call the old town and new
town. The boundary is prices street is the prominent shopping street
and New town is located by the north of it and old town is located towards
the south.

The old town was dominated by the castle, which was the royal residence
from 11th century. The Esplanade, which was created in the 18th century
as a military parade ground now used as a venue for Edinburgh Military
Tattoo. The other popular places in Edinburgh old town are St Giles Cathedral
, the Law Courts, University of Edinburgh, Royal museum of Scotland. The Royal
mile get fully crowded in festival season.
The new town was build in 18th centaury due to increasing population and
was designed by James Craig, in year 1766. You can get many modern day attractions here.
Even though Edinburgh is considered as a historical city, it has started changing
with the modern development. Visitors can find number of restaurants, clubs
, pubs & shopping malls. But still the city was able to maintain its
traditional style and cultural tastes. There are number of museums and art galleries to visit and explore the history of Scotland and the Scottish life style.
The city of Edinburgh has good transport facilities, mainly dominated
by busses. Taxies are the other convenient way of travel.
Edinburgh has good accommodation facilities varying different price ranges.
