The Festa del Grillo Florence ( The Crickets Festival)
Festa del Grillo is a historical festival held in late April or early May. From
early days, residence of Florence believed that song of crickets bring them love and
happiness. So this festival is for it.
Early days during this festival time, children used to catch live crickets and put
them to cages.
Then this became a business and there were people catch crickets and open variety
of stalls and sell singing crickets in cages. But later they understood that
catching live
crickets is a harmful activity and now they used sell artificial ones, who can sing
also.
Today, during in this Festa del Grillo festival time, you can see stalls
in cascine park selling artificial crickets in tiny stoove baskets and people come
and buy them.
Other than these actives you enjoy the date with many music and mouth watering
food items.
