Bosingak is located in Jongno ( Bell Street) and housed for large bell used
as the city bell.
This bell was constructed in year 1396 but destroyed many times due to fire and war
with Japan and last time due to Korean war.
In early days this bell used to ring at night and the morning to inform the end of the
day and the beginning of the new day. It also used to inform the citizens about the
emergency situations like fire occurred in the city.
Bell ceremony held by Bosingak in each year to celebrate Korean new year..
They ring the bell 33 times during new year day to celebrate the last day of the
previous year and welcoming the new year.
