Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul, Korea
The meaning of Gyeongbok in English is "Shining Happiness". This is located by the Seoul main
city and the main entrance of the palace is the "Gwanghwamun Gate", which separates the
palace form the busy Seoul streets.
The Gyeongbok palace was build by the King Taejo in 1395 at the beginning of the Joseon
Dynesty(Chosun Dynasty). From then Gyeongbokgung became the primary palace for Joseon
Kingdom.
Gyeongbok Palace was destroyed by the Japanese invaders in 1592. This was rebuilt from the
remaining in year 1865. Several other buildings were destroyed when Korea was annexed
by Japan in early 1900 s.
Gyeongbokgung Palace encompass the area of 410000 square meters. This includes many halls,
pavilions, rooms, offices, and gates and entry point and bridges.
There is a beautiful hexagonal pavilion surround by the a pond is located by the north side of the
pond. National Folk Museum also located in the north side of the palace.

March through October 09:00-18:00
November through February 09:00-17:00
Open until 19:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays from May to August
Closed on Tuesdays. Please note that Ticket booths close one hour before the closing of the palace.

Age 19 & Above: 3,000 won / 2.400 won ( group, 20 or more )
Age 7 to 18: 1,500 won / 1,200 won ( group, 10 or more )

inside Heungnyemun Gate.
