Jade Buddha Temple
Jade Buddha Temple is one of the famous temple in Shanghai area.
The main attraction in this temple is the Buddha statues which were carved from a
single slab of Burmese Jade. These statues were taken from Burma in year 1882.
The original temple was destroyed during the attempt to overthrew the Qing Dynasty.
The current Jade Buddha Temple was constructed between year 1911 to 1918.
The sitting Buddha statue is is nearly 2 meters tall. The other reclining Buddha statue is
comparatively small in size. There are some other Gold plated Buddha statues also located
in the Jade Buddha Temple.
Jade Buddha Temple Opening Time: 8:00-17:30 hours
This temple opens from 5.30 am on at and 15th day of the Lunar month.
The temple closes for lunch between noon and 1 pm.
