Sydney History , Australia

The history of the city of Sydney, starts around 1788 and the name given to honor Baron Sydney. Phillip, the first governor of the New South Wales found this place while they were searching for fresh water source in Port Jackson, which is currently known as Sydney harbor. This water source currently known as "Tank Stream". Still you an find some places and streets with the early day names. In the early day, the city of Sydney was facing problems such as dieses and droughts and some political issues. But in mid of the 19th century, it became a city center with facilities such as banks, markets and etc.

Sydney became the capitol of New South Wales ( NSW) after Australia federated in 1901. Sydney had a bad time in great depression time, but recovered soon. Sydney was not much affect by World War 2, but lots of immigrants arrived to the city after that.

The city of Sydney hosted year 2000 Olympics, now a days consider as the one of the best places in the world to live in.
