Vienna public transport system consists of trams, busses, underground and the
trains. Those are interconnected and the service is in very high standard.

S-Bahn system connects the city of Vienna with the other parts of the country.
Tram system covers more than 30 routes and available in 5 minutes to 10 minutes
interval. Westbahnhof is the arriving point of the trains coming from west.
Trains coming from east and north arrive to Ostbahnhof. There are trams, under ground
trains are available from those points. There are five main lines in this subway system.
They are U1 - Red line, U2 - Purple line, U3 Orange line, U4- Green line and U6 - Brown line.
   
Tram line one and two are popular among the tourist because you
can get a good view of the city by traveling in them.
   
Vienna busses covers the remaining areas where trains and trams
cannot achieve. Night bus lines available in the selected areas with
extra ticket charges.

Public Transport Tickets:
    Vienna Card is a popular choice and it allows you to travel by busses and
subway trains. Single ride tickets, 24 hour tickets and 72 hour tickets are
available also. Single tickets cost around 1.70 Euros and those tickets can be
purchased from vending machines available in the stations, tobacco shops
or from the tickets sales offices. single journey tickets can be purchased
from busses and trams also. But the cost may be high.
    Tickets needs to be validated before boarding. If you bought the ticket
from the bus or tram, those will be automatically validated. Period of valid of
a ticket start from the time stamp on the ticket. Ticket validating
machines located at the entrance of underground stations or on buses and trams.
    Children under six years of age can travel free of charge.
    Travel passes available in 24 hour, 72 hour or longer period such as weekly,
monthly and annually.

Cycling in Vienna
    This is a convenient and enjoyable way to travel and you will be able to
bypass the city traffic. There are bicycle path networks available in the city
and bicycles are allowed in the underground from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm and even after
6.00 pm in week days. Week ends are fully allowed and you need to get a
separate tickets for that.
